My love for reading and my passion for sharing my thoughts and opinions with the world finally can co-exist in one place.
I’ve always been a voracious reader. I’ll finish one book and eagerly rush off to find my next great story to binge. And, if you’ve been following my blog for quite some time, you know that writing has always been something that makes me feel good because I can put my thoughts out there and share my feelings or insights with the world.
While the book community on Instagram (better known as Bookstagram) isn’t a new place, it took me a while to decide to take the plunge and start my own account. Questions would arise such as: do I read enough? Are my book reviews worthy? Do people care about what I’m reading? And, on top of all of that, the biggest question of all kept surfacing: do I know how to produce content that’s consistent and attractive to the eye? After all, Instagram is about visual creativity at the end of the day. Photography is at the heart of the platform.
So why did I take the plunge? I thought to myself, “what did I have to lose?”
I created @chapterswithcourtney at the end of March 2022, and was immediately flooded with kindness, likeminded people, and an ever-growing list of new books to add to my TBR (to be read) list. I started receiving books in the mail from new friends who wanted me to get my hands on books they loved that they thought I’d enjoy, as well as books from new authors looking for more people to review their upcoming works.
It was incredible! In just a few short months, my following grew exponentially. I realized that not only was I creating content that was visually pleasing, but people actually truly appreciated my honest and thorough book reviews and trusted me to give valuable feedback on what I’d just read.
I’m so grateful to be living in a time where a hobby can turn into a passion project. Where I can share my thoughts with others, and make new friends along the way.
